Sugar Addiction - Myth or Reality

Price: $89.00

Sugar is often described as addictive, with cravings and overeating sometimes compared to substance addiction—but does the science actually support that comparison? This Online Workshop takes a closer look at sugar, how it affects the body and brain, and the evidence behind the idea of “sugar addiction.”

You'll explore the science and structure of sugar, food labels and hidden sources of sugar before examining how addiction is defined and the role of dopamine, pleasure and reward pathways, cravings, tolerance and withdrawal. The workshop also looks critically at research used to support sugar addiction, including the limitations of animal studies and the difference between a rewarding food and an addictive substance.

Explore how food restriction and deprivation may influence cravings and overeating, and why feeling out of control around certain foods doesn't necessarily mean the food itself is addictive. By examining the research and common assumptions surrounding sugar, you'll develop a more informed understanding of what may actually be driving our relationship with sweet foods.

You will receive a PDF presentation and short quiz to complete and email to info@inshapetraining.net in order to receive your CFES continuing education credits.
